  • A good way to enjoy local food. Pepole greeting each other even though a stranger. Still use traditional cooking to make the food. Its very crowded in the morning. The name "Bokoran" is from the village near the stall (said the owner)..

  • The taste of chicken soto is light but savory and the filling is dense for a small bowl. The potato perkedel is dense, fragrant, and the tempeh is a champion. The service is also friendly and fast, it's just a small place with so many customers coming.

  • I love this soto so much, probably the best one I've ever tried! This soto is a typical clear soto. The soup tastes savory and very brothy. It contains rice, chicken chunks, bean sprouts and vermicelli also fried garlic. The fried garlic is the key ingredient in this soto, it makes the soto taste more flavorful. You can also add some condiments to eat the soto with. They have lots of condiments such as fried tempe, perkedel, telur pindang and chicken offal satay varieties. You have to try this Soto if you come to Semarang!

  • Soto Bokoran A chicken soto stall in downtown Semarang. The space is small and quite busy, so you have to queue to get a table during breakfast or lunch hours. The soto is delicious, and the portions for the mixed soto are generous. The side dishes (top-notch fried tempeh, potato croquettes, chicken satay, and quail egg satay) are especially appealing. Parking is only on the side of the road, and parking can be difficult if it's crowded. Interestingly, there's a seller selling delicious "leker" (traditional Central Javanese cakes) in front of Soto Bokoran.

  • Soto Bokoran in Semarang is absolutely worth the early-morning queue. The rich and flavorful broth makes every spoonful satisfying, especially when topped with pindang-style egg and generous slices of crispy fried garlic. The experience is perfectly completed with tempe fritters and perkedel on the side, making it even more enjoyable. If you’re visiting Semarang, this is a must-try local dish you shouldn’t miss.

  • Hmm I just follow the directions and found this overly-crowded place. Apparently their Soto was legendary from social media, so I lined up and it did not take long (15 mins) to get a seat. The portion was pretty small (at least from my appetite) but oh no.. this small bowl packs a lot of taste. It was heavenly great. Tastes light yet rich in herbs and spices. The fried garlic was a great addition (usually I don't like garlic, but zamn it did not as strong as your usual fried garlic). Eggs were also nice though a bit tough. People said their perkedel was necessary although it was sold out very very quickly :( Overall, great food, but the line is something to be considered. --- UPDATE Well, I came back because their perkedel was something I REALLY REALLY WANT TO TASTE. As someone who adores Perkedel, theirs was SENT FROM HEAVEN OH MY GOODNESS. It was served piping hot with thick filling. Tastewise, the taste of potato and their spices was balanced well with a hint of corned beef (I guess?) I ate 5 of them. I could ate more, but others must try this godly perkedel, so I stopped there

  • One of legendary breakfast spots in Semarang. The soto has a fresh, savory flavor with a hint of sweetness, very typical of Semarang. You can also add satay skewers, fried snacks, and their tasty perkedel on the side. The place is usually crowded, which shows how loved it is. Parking can be a bit tricky since it’s located inside a market street near the river, not on a main road - and there’s no guide! Prices are very affordable for the quality, also note that they only accept cash. One of Semarang’s culinary icons worth trying.

  • The famous and legendary Soto Ayam in Semarang. They only offer a Soto Ayam menu with additional side dishes such as chicken/clam satay (sate ayam/kerang), braised eggs (telur pindang), etc. Taste-wise, it was really delicious, flavorful, and delightful. I had no regrets and would definitely return when in Semarang. The minus point was that the floor was really dirty and full of stashed tissues when we came.
